Savannah judges’ efforts in drug, juvenile issues recognized

Juvenile Court Presiding Judge LeRoy Burke III was named winner of a 2018 Big Voice for Children Award for his efforts at effective prevention and early intervention efforts to make a long-term difference in kids’ lives.

The award from the Voices for Georgia’s Children recognized Burke’s leadership role at the Juvenile Court to spearhead a collaborative effort with local police, the Savannah-Chatham Public Schools, business representatives and other local stakeholders to give positive direction and supervision to youth in the community. It cited his efforts to use restorative justice solutions to help children overcome barriers and difficult life challenges.
